AGADA is a contract research organization (CRO) providing specialized services to pharmaceutical and biotech companies. Unlike most CROs, AGADA provides services in niche areas of research that require further standardization. Our mission is to accelerate drug development for rare diseases, serving an international pharmaceutical clientele. The key to accomplishing this mission is training and retaining a highly skilled workforce in Nova Scotia. We offer both preclinical drug efficacy studies andclinical (human) trial endpoint testing and support services.

AGADA has performed over 170 drug efficacy studies in murine models of muscular dystrophy and has supported 43 Phase I, Phase II/III clinical studies for Duchenne, Becker, and ALS.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Participation with laboratory team to carry out experimental designs for preclinical efficacy studies and clinical testing
Participation with laboratory team to perform validation studies for experimental procedures and carry out experimental endpoint measures for preclinical and clinical studies
Obtain technical proficiency in:
Biochemical and molecular testing for preclinical and clinical studies
Histopathology
Data management systems
Muscle cell based in vitro assays
Preclinical physiological (in vivo) assessments
Drug administration (oral gavage, intraperitoneal, intravenous techniques)
Animal dissections/freezing/blood collection
Accurate record maintenance and analysis of all data
Carefully following standard operating procedures in all work

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

PREFERRED SKILLS
The ability to work within a multi-disciplinary team environment. Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills are essential.

Demonstrated ability to be proactive, highly organized, and capable of multi-tasking, along with qualities to handle fast-paced environment and ongoing change typical of the biotech industry.

Perform and execute any other company and research activities that are assigned by the company management in a timely manner.
