ORGANIZATIONAL BACKGROUND


The Mental Health Commission of Canada (MHCC) is a non-profit organization created to focus national attention on mental health issues and to work to improve the health and social outcomes of people living with mental illness.

The Commission is seen as a leader nationally and internationally in several areas.

Building upon the work done to date, the core mandate, and the unique position of the Commission, and guided by Changing Directions Changing Lives:

The Mental Health Strategy for Canada, the Commission will focus in the areas of substance use, suicide prevention, population-based initiatives, and engagement.

This prioritization will enable the Commission to be successful in meeting its mandate, staying focused, and having a measurable impact for those living with mental illness and their families and caregivers.


Opening Minds is the social enterprise division of MHCC with a focus on providing training programs such as Mental Health First Aid (MHFA), The Working Mind (TWM), and The Inquiring Mind (TIM).

These programs seek to change Canadian's behaviours and attitudes toward people living with mental illness, helping to ensure people are treated fairly and as full citizens with opportunities to contribute to society like anyone else.

POSITION OVERVIEW


Self-paced and virtual learning are a core element of our strategy to maximize the number of people participating in mental health resiliency, helping, and awareness courses.

To that end, we have a bespoke LMS in place and with our E-Learning Team Lead leading the way, the E-Learning Systems Specialist will design, develop, and implement the LMS functionality and accessibility necessary to ensure consistent user-experiences, effective back-end structures, and meaningful interaction with both colleagues and participants.

The future includes enhancing and optimizing the current user-interfaces as well as continuously building and delivering immersive, engaging, and effective learning experiences.

This role is essential in maintaining the effectiveness of the Learning Management System. It involves a mix of technical expertise, project management, user support, and e-learning strategy.


Responsibilities:


  • Ensure the daytoday operation and functionality of the Learning Management System, including system updates, troubleshooting, and issue resolution.
  • Provide user support, including technical assistance, guidance, and training to colleagues, facilitators, and course participants to ensure a smooth learning experience.
  • Maintain and update user profiles, course data, and learning records, ensuring accurate tracking and reporting of user progress and achievements.
  • Implement security measures to protect sensitive participant data and ensure that the LMS complies with relevant privacy and data protection regulations.
  • Identify opportunities for improving the LMS functionality, features, and user experience. Propose, plan, and implement upgrades or new modules as needed.
  • Create and maintain documentation on LMS processes, best practices, and user guides to facilitate efficient system usage.
  • Provide training to users and team members on LMS features and best practices, and offer guidance on how to create effective elearning content.
  • Collect and analyze user feedback and requirements to continuously improve the LMS, tailoring it to the needs of the organization and its learners.
  • Collaborate with the E-Learning Team Lead to develop and execute strategies for enhancing the elearning experience within the organization.
  • Other duties and projects as may be required or assigned
