This position is based out of our client site in British Columbia and reports to our Project Area Managers.


This position is expected to be 100% onsite in Kitimat, British Columbia.

This position offers fly-in fly-out (FIFO). Rotations are available of 21/7 and 10/4. Life in Kitimat for Newcomers - Kitimat Bound


How will you contribute to the team?

  • Provide leadership for development of JHAs, inspections, risk assessments, internal audits and incident investigations.
  • Support and motivate line management and supervisors to provide OHS leadership and help them influence workers to give appropriate priority to Health, Safety and Environmental objectives/requirements
  • Actively engage and maintain frameworks for risk management and monitoring.
  • Monitor COVID 19 program effectiveness (coach, inspect, take action).
  • Facilitate, monitor and provide feedback Job Hazard Assessments (JHAs) to address and improve the recognition and mitigation hazards, their associated risks and related costs.
  • Monitor the integrity and effectiveness of controls, with an emphasis on critical controls, to identify actual and potential failures in control.
  • Contribute to monitoring of employees and contractors' personnel and their compliance with HSE requirements.
  • Provide support to supervisors to investigate analyze, record and report on incidents and nonconformities indicating failures or inadequacies of controls.
  • Manage change regarding organizationwide initiatives.
  • Conduct and analyze emergency drills.
  • Facilitate, monitor and support management practices and objectives aimed at achieving a positive HSE Culture as an organizational value
  • Collaborate across EDPM on varying initiatives,
  • Support a safe work environment by maintaining HSE administrative processes, conducting basic HSE training and effectively using a range of HSE tools and processes to implement HSE programs and support a positive HSE Culture
  • Conduct hazard assessments and develop effective mitigation plans.
  • Develop and deliver HSE training.
  • Conduct research and develop strategies.
  • Conduct hazard communication.

What will you contribute?

  • Strong understanding of Canadian Legislation (Federal and Provincial), Industry Best Practices, Safety Management Systems, Safe Work Practices, Emergency Response Planning, Traffic Control Management, JHA development, Trend Analysis and implementing safety campaigns/initiatives.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and ability to prepare and communicate HSE reports both internally and to client.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standard and requirements of COR.
  • Experience in developing and delivering training material
  • Computer based training experience an asset.
  • Minimum 8 years OH&S experience
  • 2year Diploma or Degree in Occupational Health and Safety or a CRSP considered an asset
  • Ability to work well within a team environment.
