We are looking for a permanent full-time Forklift Technician for our Winnipeg facility.

JOB SUMMARY
Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, as the Forklift Technician you will:

Perform preventative maintenance, troubleshoot, diagnose, and complete repairs on all types of material handling equipment, industrial batteries and charging system.
Give assistance in the building maintenance and refrigeration maintenance as needed.
Perform emergency repair work and breakdowns on the building, grounds, installation, and equipment (such as racking systems; mobile and dock equipment) as required.
Complete required documentation/ reports in the facility Maintenance Management System (Guide TI) to plan jobs, facilitate the creation of work orders to track all maintenance activities and generate and distribute the purchase orders for the supply of spares and services.
Spare parts inventory and management. Maintain and organize the maintenance shop, maintain inventory of supplies, equipment, and tools; evaluates/recommends purchase of related equipment and supplies to the Maintenance Supervisor.
Coordinate with external contractors, as needed.
Ensure compliance with all Health and Safety Regulations and Food Safety programs.
Ensure compliance with all warehouse rules, policies, procedures, and standards are met, including HACCP and BRC.
Perform other related duties, as required.

EDUCATION AND PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

3+ years of experience in repair and maintenance of material handling equipment required.
1+ year of mechanic experience on light and heavy equipment, propane, gasoline, diesel.
Journeyman mechanic is preferred.
Demonstrated mechanical and technical aptitude, building maintenance experience preferably in a warehouse facility.
This role will have a flexible schedule that will include afternoon, weekend and oncall coverage for the warehouse and refrigeration system.

Strong mechanical, troubleshooting and problemsolving skills.
Ability to deal with others effectively and work as part of a team.
Ability to prioritize and organize daily duties and tasks to be as effective and efficient as possible.
Effective communication skills for the purpose of relaying data, exchanging feedback and providing clarification.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings and specifications.
Ability to operate related equipment.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

Must have flexibility in schedule that will include afternoon, weekend, holidays and on-call coverage for the warehouse and refrigeration system.

Must be able to work twelve (12) hour shifts.

Must be physically capable of performing the required duties and tasks, including working in cold and freezing temperatures (-18 to -25 degrees Celsius).

Must be willing to wear personal protective equipment.

$30.00-$34.00 per hour
