Overview:
Under the supervision of the Aquatic Supervisor, this is junior-level aquatic work in delivering an enjoyable and safe aquatic experience for the public.
An employee of this position is responsible for overseeing patrons using the waterslides, assisting with delivery of event programs and activities, and performing routine daily maintenance tasks in accordance with established practices and procedures, exercising judgment and action in ensuring the safety of patrons using the aquatic facility.
Examples of key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Manages the entry of patrons into the flume at the top of the slide; acts on and prevents unsafe activities by users.
- Provides safety education to patrons; ensures patrons meet height and age requirements and adheres to safety criteria.
- Communicates effectively with other team members.
- Assists or leads event programs/activities in the aquatic facility, such as birthday parties; plans the program/activity; sets up the space; leads the participants; performs cleanup and room maintenance tasks.
- Performs routine tasks associated with daily maintenance of the pool deck and change rooms.
- Performs related work as required.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Working knowledge of principles and techniques of active surveillance in aquatic facilities.
- Working knowledge of community recreation principles and practices, including safe and proper use of equipment and facilities.
- Ability to monitor and prevent infractions of pool rules and regulations with professionalism.
- Ability to follow established methods in a supervised environment.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to be courteous to others in situations of conflict or disagreement.
- Ability to prepare and maintain a variety of charts, records, and reports related to the work.
- Ability to prioritize competing demands.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Currently enrolled in or Completion of Grade 10
- Minimum age of 15 years or older.
Required Licences, Certificates and Registrations:
- Bronze Medallion.
- Bronze Cross.
- Standard First Aid.
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) Certification.
