Thrive Charter School is a kindergarten through grade 6 school located at 10735 McQueen Road opening in September 2023. The school is currently under renovation.

THRIVE School is creating something special. A FREE K-6 Public Charter School. A place where our students' brilliant futures come into clear focus, and anything is possible.

Position Description


We're looking for an educator who can create a positive, engaging atmosphere that motivates students to have a passion for sciences.

Grades 1-6


Qualifications

  • Previous wellness, and nutrition background.
  • All applicants must be willing to obtain or have First Aid/CPR/AED certification.
  • Ability to relate well with our demographic of students and their families as well as with staff.
  • Ability and willingness to educate grades 1
  • An ethic of service to students, colleagues, and community to promote a welcoming, safe, and caring school and classroom environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills combined with the ability to create positive relationships and establish rapport
  • Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and lesson design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups, and the measurement of student learning
  • Knowledge and awareness of group behaviour and dynamics, societal trends and influences, human migrations, ethnicity, and cultures
  • Passion for teaching

Police Information Clearance:Applicants new to the Thrive Charter School WHO ARE OFFERED EMPLOYMENT must complete and pass a police information clearance before employment is confirmed.


Responsibilities
Under the guidance of the Program Director and in compliance with the Thrive Elementary School approved charter:

  • Commitment to the Thrive Elementary School's charter, vision, mission, and values.
  • Establishes clear objectives and outlines for courses of study, following curriculum guidelines, and communicates these objectives to students. Prepares for assigned classes and demonstrates written evidence of preparation upon request. Prepares materials for learning, and classrooms for activities, as appropriate.
  • Instructs using a variety of instructional approaches appropriate for grade level, student needs and program focus for teaching students with distinctive experiences and motivations, including multimodal teaching strategies.
  • Provides learning opportunities so students can see themselves as the innovators, scientists, inventors, engineers, and technology experts of tomorrow.
  • Observes and evaluates students' performance, behaviour, social development, and physical health.
  • Establishes and models expectations for behaviour and procedures for maintaining order and safety among the students for whom we are responsible, under the guidance of the Program Director. Enforces all administrative policies governing students.
  • Effectively plans with other staff members, as well as partners, for opportunities beyond the classroom which promotes learning.
  • Open minded and committed to continuous professional learning, collaboration, and reflection.
