Jay Jay Landscaping is looking for one or two new full-time crew members for this upcoming 2024 landscaping/gardening season. We're a small company that's been around since 1953, located in Etobicoke Burnhamthorpe) that services residential homes in the Etobicoke area. Some of our clients have been with us for decades.

Applicants with no experience but a keen desire to learn this business are encouraged, but applicant priority will be given to those with maintenance experience with other landscaping companies.

This is a job that requires outdoor physical labour, and a lot of time spent, bending, walking, pulling and other job-related tasks requiring physical mobility and fitness.

Applicants must also have the ability to lift weights of up to 50 lbs to assist in loading and unloading of equipment and materials.

Salary to start full-time is from a range of $20-22 per-hour depending on your experience, with incremental and fair raises after a successful probationary period.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
Working as part of a three to five-person crew maintaining the landscaping and gardens on residential properties.

Understanding and adhering to all the safety protocols in place.

Operating well-maintained and newer gas and electric-powered landscaping equipment and machines.

Maintenance includes:
lawn mowing, line trimming, leaf blowing, fertilizing, dethatching, laying mulch, pruning, cultivating and other assorted related maintenance duties.

Loading and unloading of work-related tools and equipment.

Work Hours and Culture:

This is a full-time Monday to Friday position starting April 1st all the way to the middle to December (dependent on weather).

Snow removal work is available in the winter but is not a requirement.

The start time every morning is 7:45am in Etobicoke where we will load into the work truck and head out for our day.

Our work week is usually 40-45 hours a week with optional Fridays off later in the season.

We understand that doing the job the right way requires the correct equipment and as a result all of our equipment and tools are either new or fairly new and are always well-maintained by qualified techs.

All of our trucks are comfortable late model full-size crew cab trucks.

We work as a tight team and part of being a member of that team also means that your thoughts and feedback on how we work together will always matter and be considered.

Your input will always be valuable and we're always looking to improve and streamline as a team. All team members and supervisors treat each other with respect at all times.

All of your safety equipment, tools, and anything else you may need for the job will be provided for you at no cost.

You are also of course welcome to bring and wear your own PPE if you choose to.

Job Requirements:

Ability to work and communicate efficiently and effectively as part of a team that's focused on doing top-notch work at all times.

Commitment to showing up on-time to the 427 + Burnhamthorpe area every morning at 7:45am.

Using equipment like lawn mowers, line trimmers, and leaf blowers for a large part of the day. We will train you on machines you don't know how to use. We just need you to be clear and honest about what you can or can't do.

Physical ability to be on your feet all day.

Physical ability to pull weeds, plants, transport materials needed and to lift equipment up to 50 lbs.

Weather is unpredictable and as a result, applicants must understand that work may sometimes involve doing your tasks in inclement weather (within reason and safety protocols).
