Ministry of Emergency Management and Climate Readiness leads provincial emergency and disaster risk management, builds and fosters collaborative relationships and partnerships, advances reconciliation with Indigenous Peoples, and supports all people in British Columbia to reduce climate and disaster risk.


The Partnerships, Engagement and Legislation (PEL) in collaboration with other Ministry divisions, is responsible for the stewardship of the Ministry's work a variety of partners including implementation of Emergency Management & Climate Readiness's current partnership agreements with Indigenous Services Canada, the First Nations Health Authority and the First Nations Emergency Services Society and the negotiation of a new multilateral First Nations emergency management agreement.

The Executive Assistant (EAA) provides executive support and results-oriented service to the Assistant Deputy Minister.

Working in a team environment, under limited supervision, the EAA is accountable for the efficient operation and administration of the ADM's office, providing a well-organized and effective working environment.

The EAA is a functional leader for DRM's administrative assistant.


Job Requirements:

Education and Experience

  • Secondary school graduation, OR certificate in office or business administration; AND
  • Minimum three (3) years' progressively more responsible administrative experience*.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Minimum one (1) year of experience working in an executive environment (e.g., Deputy Minister, Assistant Deputy Minister, or Executive Director).
  • Minimum three (3) years' progressively more responsible administrative experience includes a combination of experience in each of the following:
  • Experience managing an electronic calendar for senior management or executive, including scheduling, and updating meetings and travel arrangements.
  • Experience drafting, formatting, and proofreading a variety of documents, including confidential correspondence, memos, detailed reports, and presentations.
Preference may be given to those with any of the following:

  • A diploma or higher in office or business administration.

About this Position:


Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to two (2) days at home per week as per an approved Telework Agreement.

This is a permanent opportunity.
