Position Responsibilities
The Associate Dean serves an academic and operational leadership role, contributing to the future growth of the School and Red Deer Polytechnic. They are responsible for leading faculty and staff in the development, delivery, modification, and advancement of curriculum. They provide support and mentorship as the direct supervisor to faculty members helping them improve their instruction, achieve professional growth, and pursue scholarly activity which results in highquality learning experiences for students. They will also lead the development of new programming within their portfolio and support initiatives which contribute to the success of our learners.
The Associate Dean works with the Dean and other colleagues to support an institutional culture of teaching and learning excellence and innovation. They are part of a passionate and dedicated community that advances the mission of Red Deer Polytechnic to strengthen and enrich the intellectual, economic, cultural, and social development of our region.
As a leader, the Associate Dean is committed to supporting lifelong learning, continuous personal and professional development, leadership enhancement, and creating excellent learning experiences that serve our region and the province.
Required Qualifications

Education:

Graduate degree from a recognized institution in a discipline related to programming in the Donald School of Business, Science and Computing.

Experience:

A minimum of five (5) years of successful teaching experience in a post-secondary environment and a minimum of three (3) years of academic leadership experience.

Strong emotional intelligence

Effective written and verbal communication skills
Effectiveness in team building, collaboration, and change management
Success in the development, implementation, and assessment of curriculum and programs
An ability to work collaboratively across organizational lines and divisions in furthering organizational goals
Analytical, research, critique, and problemsolving skills
Inclusive leadership that inspires trust and confidence
An ability to promote a positive environment through honesty, integrity, and ethical behavior consistent with the core values of Red Deer Polytechnic
Experience in creative and agile leadership

Preferred Qualifications

Relevant industry experience and/or education in a business discipline area
Progressive academic leadership experience involving direct supervision of postsecondary faculty members (including recruitment and selection; development and coaching; performance assessment and management)
