Educational Development Specialist:
Primary Purpose:
Reporting to the Associate Director, CPDPP, the successful applicant will be responsible for the educational development of continuing education courses for healthcare professionals.
Nature of Work:
Continuing Professional Development for Pharmacy Professionals (CPDPP) is based out of the University of Saskatchewan, College of Pharmacy and Nutrition.
We develop, implement, support, and evaluate continuing education and continuing professional development opportunities for pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and healthcare professionals.
CPDPP collaborates on continuing education courses with other health organizations and partners nationally.Reporting to the Associate Director, the successful applicant will function with a high level of independence, decision-making, and accountability. This position also requires short, medium, and long-term planning. Working with CPDPP requires initiative, and interpersonal and facilitation skills, with knowledge of professionals education development and learning literature. The position requires an exceptional standard of service while working in a collaborative environment, balancing competing deadlines and multitasking. Some travel may be required (meetings, conferences), as is attendance at occasional evening and weekend events.
Typical Duties or Accountabilities:
- Design and facilitate learning activities, workshops, events, courses, and presentations for pharmacy professionals and broader healthcare professionals.
- Provide the educational development for a large microcredential course project.
- Support the educational development work of the CPDPP team.
- Communicate effectively with healthcare professionals who are accessing CPDPP materials.
- Implement feedback from evaluations into current and future course offerings.
- Possess the functional expertise required to enhance the quality of patient care through education.
- Ensure that learning design and activities meet professional accreditation standards.
- May participate in the mentorship and experiential learning activities of undergraduate pharmacy students.
Qualities and assets:
- Knowledge regarding adult professional educational theories, teaching methodologies, and adult learning principles is essential.
- Strong knowledge of asynchronous online learning educational development and design.
- Familiarity with instructional design and assessment strategies.
- Thoughtful about the educational needs and requirements of pharmacy professionals.
- Ability to manage and support multiple projects simultaneously.
- Communicate clearly with a keen attitude towards collaboration.
- Passion for producing highquality work.
- Possess a high degree of professionalism.
- Innovative and creative when determining plans of action/strategies.
Qualifications
Education:
Graduate degree in education, instructional design, curriculum development, or related fields, or equivalentexperience.
Experience: 1 to 3 years of experience supporting professional learning. Experience with educational technology is essential. Experience with health and science disciplines is an asset.
