Atura Power is establishing itself as the Ontario leader in low-carbon and green hydrogen production.

Atura Power owns and operates the largest fleet of combined cycle power plants in Ontario, and is developing hydrogen production and energy storage projects.

Our facilities are currently located across the province including Niagara, Napanee, Halton Hills, Toronto, and Windsor. This is a hybrid position which is principally located at our Oakville head office.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Establish and maintain mutually beneficial working relationships with Indigenous Nations, leaders and communities
  • Provide guidance and support to the senior leadership team on matters and opportunities related to Indigenous relations
  • Provide strategic planning and review current activities
  • Establish economic impact models, strategies, and performance indicators supporting Atura's commitments and targets for reconciliation action
  • Develop, evaluate and monitor company policies and programming
  • Provide guidance and leadership in the communication of company policies and programming
  • Provide periodic reporting on status of relationships, programs, partnerships, and emerging issues and opportunities
  • Represent Atura Power at meetings and forums and support Atura senior leaders in their involvement
  • Support Atura Power's project development teams with engagement with Indigenous communities and development groups
  • Recommend and influence positioning of issues and communications strategies
  • Meet with government officials, departments, and agencies, as needed, to discuss Atura programs and strategies
  • Champion Atura Power's position with external stakeholders
Requirements and Qualifications

  • University degree in Indigenous studies, Political Science, Business Administration, Law or other related degree
  • 3+ years experience in Indigenous policy and strategic relationship management
  • Deep understanding on Indigenous culture, history, protocol, and issues faced by Indigenous Nations and communities
  • Strong ability to think strategically and focus on long term implications
  • Ability to develop internal and external relationships necessary for the successful development and continuation of Atura Power's reconciliation action programming
  • Demonstrates personal initiative, strives to innovate and build best practices but is highly attune to the need for pragmatic solutions
  • Strong communication skills, but written and verbal
  • Demonstrated experience diffusing difficult situations, and success working effectively in a multiple stakeholder environment, and to chart a path in the context of intricate issues and multiple views
  • Ability to influence people with communication, personal style and finesse, rather than authority
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and priorities
  • Strong ability to work in a team environment
  • Have and maintain a valid driver's license
  • Successfully complete a criminal record check
