Position Details:


What You Will Do

  • Lead the continuous improvement of Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) infrastructure ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements including the championing of skills required to support ERM objectives.
  • Understand the company's environment and organizational needs to help the business identify, assess, and monitor risks.
  • Continuously improve the risk frameworks, taxonomy, policies, methodologies, standards & tools based on OSFI's requirements. Ensure communication of these tools to the business to enable adoption.
  • Build collaborative and productive working relationships across the organization to establish, maintain, and continuously improve risk management capabilities and promote risk awareness and intelligent risk taking.
  • Perform risk identification and assessments and ensure that there is an effective monitoring methodology and escalation processes in place.
  • Research and continuously improve risk management tools and techniques to identify and monitor significant risks across the organizations ensuring communication of these tools to the business to enable adoption.
  • Assist in the facilitation of Risk Committees across the group of companies to identify, assess and monitor ongoing identified risks and risk mitigation initiatives.
  • Responsible for the senior management enterprise risk reporting process and integration of that process with the operational risk process.
  • Manage the Corporate Insurance process including the annual renewal process, purchase of any new insurance/endorsements, as needed, assisting the business with ad hoc corporate insurance requests, provide consultation/advice to the business on Corporate Insurance and working with our corporate insurance broker to ensure adequate coverage is maintained within our risk appetite.
  • Support with risk financing activities
  • Assist with the development and enhancement of key risk indicators (KRIs).
  • Responsible for regulatory (e.g., OSFI, FSRA) guideline consultation, feedback, and implementation.
  • Stay abreast of current and emerging risk related regulatory requirements and provide support in reviewing new regulatory requirements related to risk management and provide consultation on impacts to the business.

Who You Are

  • Bachelors or equivalent degree in Business Admin/Commerce/Finance/Economics/Mathematics/IT/Data Analytics/Computer Science
  • Minimum 5 years of Insurance and/or Financial Services Industry experience
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in leading and managing staff
  • CPA designation would be an asset
  • Industry accreditation in Risk Management or related field (CSC, CIP, FCIP, CRM, CRMP) would be an asset
  • Experience in leading projects/programs which involve crossfunctional stakeholders
  • Ability to cater and customize communications to suit the needs of various stakeholders, including, all levels of management, board, executives, and external stakeholders
  • Experience and knowledge in managing a risk program or framework
  • Experience with insurance industry regulatory requirements (OSFI, FSRA, etc.)
  • Strong knowledge and experience with Governance, Risk and Compliance and Controls frameworks
  • Strong blend of strategic, critical thinking, analytical and problem solving and attention to detail
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
