Key Responsibilities:

SGCC is currently looking for a
HR/Health & Safety Coordinator to undertake the following key responsibilities:

  • Conduct new hire orientations, exit interviews, employee development
  • Maintain compliance with Canadian labour laws
  • Maintain employee handbooks and training documents, ensuring employee acknowledgment
  • Build relationships with management and staff
  • Respond to employee concerns, liaising with management
  • ADP administration which includes: (1) Ensure accurate completion and entry of new hire documentation, coordinate orientations, set up profiles, and address new hire inquiries. (2) Monitor and manage employee time records, oversee timeoff approvals, track attendance, and ensure policy compliance. (3) Create, distribute, and manage employee surveys, analyze results, and collaborate on action plans based on feedback. (4) Schedule and track training sessions, maintain course databases, keep learning records, and ensure completion of compliance training. (5) Generate and analyze HR metrics, create custom reports, ensure data accuracy, and identify trends to support HR decisionmaking.
  • Assist in responding to inquiries relating to benefits enrollment, updates, and coverage
  • Bi-Weekly Payroll for hourly employees
  • Oversees policy compliance, creates new polices as directed, reviews policies on an annual basis and updates as needed
  • Active member of the Health and Safety committee and acting as committee administrator
  • Fostering a safe work environment
  • Manage all aspects of WSIB, including claims and premiums
  • Ensure proper supply of PPE and other H&S equipment
  • Any other projects as required

What You Bring:


  • Two+ years of human resources / health & safety experience
  • Computer proficiency including Office 36
  • Extremely detail oriented with a positive attitude
  • Knowledge of Canadian employment laws and regulations
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize changing situations
  • Selfmotivated and driven
  • Can assess situations carefully and are sensitive in dealing with people
  • Ability to act with professionalism and confidentiality
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Benefit administration experience an asset
  • Payroll experience an asset
  • JHSC certification an asset
  • HRIS experience an asset
