Reporting to the Dean of the Faculty of Business and IT, the Sessional Lecturer provides instruction to undergraduate students in
BUSI 3150U Financial Statements Analysis.



The current schedule is:


Monday 2:10PM - 5:00PM***
Responsibilities/Accountabilities:The primary responsibility of the applicant is to (develop and) teach a theoretically, methodologically sophisticated and relevant course at the university level within the parameters of the course description listed above.

In keeping with a technology-enhanced learning environment utilizing laptop computers and wireless connectivity, the Sessional Lecturer will deliver the course using a technology-enhanced learning approach that includes a variety of inclusive teaching and learning strategies and assessments.

The Sessional Lecturer will prepare, deliver and grade all course material and assignments and be available for consultation with students during and following completion of the course session.


Qualifications:


Required Education:

The successful applicant must meet at least one of the following qualifications:

  • Have a Canadian CPA designation and a Masters or PhD in a relevant field. For the purposes of this posting, relevant fields include Business, Accounting, or Finance; OR
  • Have a Canadian CPA designation combined with either a CFA or a CBV designation; OR
  • Have completed all academic requirements required for a Canadian CPA designation, coupled with having taught BUSI 3150U at Ontario Tech University or its equivalent (80% similarity at another university) in the past five years.

Required Skills:


  • Human skills and technical competencies aligned with CPA professional competencies
  • Familiarity with case writing methodology and critical thinking
  • Strong analytical and quantitative analysis using models for business valuations
  • CFA designation preferred
  • Ability to understand the external economic and social implications on Canadian business and their impact on the analysis of financial statements and business valuation
  • Experience teaching accounting at the university level
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to respond to student enquiries and to grade assignments and exams in a timely manner.
High level of comfort with interacting with students and colleagues using online modalities such as Google Meets and Kaltura.

  • Ability to manage a course effectively using a Learning Management System.
  • An ability to develop innovative and inclusive teaching strategies.
  • An ability to communicate effectively in a multicultural and diverse community.
Required Experience


Priority will be given to an Internal Applicant who has taught any course for the University in three (3) different sessions in the past thirty-six (36) months, provided they meet the requirements for the position as outlined in the job posting.
