    The Creighton Mine geology team supports the frontline employees, supervisors, and management team. Our team is integral in maintaining the daily operation of the technical support systems at the mine.


    We are currently seeking a Geologist (Casual), Local to join our geology team at our Creighton Mine in our Sudbury Operations.

    This position is a 12-month fixed-term and fully covered under the Collective Agreement between Vale and the Local United Steelworkers.


    The purpose of this role is to provide geological oversight and support for the underground definition drill programs in Creighton's deep, 3D geological and geostatistical modelling, and support to the execution team at Creighton Mine.

    The successful candidate will work closely with Engineering, Ground Control and Operations to support the mine designs for the Life of Mine Plan.

    3D geological modelling in Datamine/Leapfrog.
    ~ Monthly reporting on drilling metrics to MTS leadership.
    ~ Compile and review geological data to create or update and document geological models and mineral resource estimates on occasion.
    ~ This work includes assessing risk, seeking opportunities and completing mineral resource estimates in compliance with company and legislated resource and reserve reporting standards, including SK-1300, CIM Standards on Mineral Resources and Reserves, Project Delivery System (PDS), and MTS guidelines.
    ~ Collaborate with various stakeholders to facilitate integration of mineral resources and mine designs into geological database applications to support grade control practices and Mineral Reserve and Mineral Resource reporting.
    ~ Work in the Geology department with the Creighton Mine team to provide geological input and support to the Life of Mine Planning (LoMP) process on an ongoing basis.
    ~ Report and carry out specific accountabilities as assigned by the Chief Mine Geologist.
    ~ Periodic underground travel is required.


    Education:
    The successful candidate will possess at a minimum, a Geological diploma, B.Sc Geology or B.Sc Geological Engineering.

    Experience:

    The ideal candidate will possess three to five years of progressive relevant experience in an underground mining and/or mineral exploration environment.


    Advanced understanding of data collection and database management, mineral resource management and reporting system including mineability and dilution, Grade Control, and diamond drill hole layouts.


    Computer Skills:

    Proficiency with Microsoft Office products to include Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook Demonstrated competency in industry software including: Ability to visualize and interpret 3D geological data for modelling and grade interpolation.

    Knowledge of Mining, Milling and Refining Processes.


    AMGC (All Mines Grade Control), MEBS (Mines Exploration Bore Hole System), M&D (Mineability and Dilution Database), Diamond Drill Hole Layouts.

    Sudbury Basin Geology knowledge is necessary to be successful in role.

    Demonstrated proficiency in Datamine, Deswik and with Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, Access and Outlook
