Archiact Interactive is a Virtual Reality (VR) Game Studio that develops new and unique ways for people to play games and interact with each other.

We partner with IP holders, large publishers, and tech brands to create and deliver immersive, high-end game experiences across multiple platforms with a special focus on building new tools for cutting-edge emerging technology.

We are a hybrid studio with employees all across Canada, reporting to our headquarters in Vancouver, BC. We have a new studio incorporated in Toronto, Ontario. Our Ontario studio is 100% remote at this time, with plans to open a new office in the future.

ROLE OVERVIEW:
We are looking for an experienced Lighting Artist to join our World team on an exciting new project.

You will be part of a small team of AAA vets who believe that VR's time is now and want to contribute to the next big VR game event.

This role is for skilled artists who have experience in the lighting design process.


ABOUT YOU*:
You are creatively fueled, technically skilled, and highly efficient at lighting levels using Unreal Engine 4. You enjoy working in a close-knit and collaborative team with a wide range of skill sets. You are a good communicator, well-balanced, and inspiring to work with.

You live to raise the quality bar and passionately care about how you can contribute to a game's art, narrative, and player experience.


RESPONSIBILITIES*- Working closely with the Art Director, World Artists, and Lead Lighting Artist, you will be responsible for designing, building, and polishing the lighting for an ambitious VR adventure game.


  • Champion and deliver lighting support around player wayfinding, world storytelling, and the tone and themes of the game.
  • Improve lighting standards and documentation that can be shared and learned by the entire team.
  • Work collaboratively with other departments such as Design, Production, Environment Art, VFX, and Tech Art.
  • Working with the Creative Directors and Level Design team, you will be responsible for lighting and staging the dramatic action, conversation, and highly immersive NPC conversation moments for the game's mission spaces.

REQUIREMENTS:


MUST HAVE:


  • 2+ years of professional game development experience as a Lighting Artist.
  • Deep technical knowledge of Unreal Engine 4 and Blueprints.
  • A strong understanding of physically based materials and workflow.
  • A strong understanding of composition, color correction, and posteffects.
  • Proficiency in level art generation regarding realtime lighting techniques such as materials, light probes, occlusion, etc.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • A selfstarter with a strong work ethic.
  • A teamplayer attitude with the ability to collaborate effectively with various stakeholders in a fastpaced environment.
  • Excellent problemsolving skills.
  • The ability to own light levels from start to finish.
  • A Strong understanding of modern lighting techniques including global illumination and ray tracing.
  • A strong understanding of physically based lighting and realworld dynamic range.
  • A portfolio that demonstrates lighting fundamentals: how lighting affects mood, gameplay, and frame rate in realtime environments.

NICE TO HAVE:


  • Experience working with VR/AR hardware.
  • Proficiency in software such as Maya, Photoshop, Blender etc.
