Kemptville District Hospital is seeking multiple
Clinical Externs to join our growing team

This position is temporary until March 31, 2024, with possibility of extension.

Key Responsibilities:

Attends to the personal care, nutritional, emotional, mobility, and safety needs of patients.
Bed Linen Changes
Personal Care and Grooming
Toileting
Answering Bells
Passing/Collecting Trays
Stocking Supplies/Carts
Obtain/Document Vital Signs
Obtain/Document Weights
Ambulation/Transfers
Portering
Emptying Catheters/Ostomy
Documenting Intake and Output
Glucoscans/QC Checks
Assist with Feeding/Snacks
Assist with Repositioning
Assist with Mechanical Lift
Observe/Report Changes in Patient Condition to Registered Staff
Directed to Assist with Emergency Situations
Participates in learning opportunities with Manager/Registered Nurse mentor
Other duties as delegated by their Manager/Registered Nurse mentor

Qualifications:

BScN students
Must have completed their 1st year of studies;

Practical Nursing students

Must have completed their 2nd year of studies;
Current BCLS;
Knowledge of body mechanics, and safe patient lift and transfer practices;
Ability to work within an interdisciplinary team;
Effective communication skills to provide ongoing support and care for diverse patients and communicate any concerns, changes in the patient's condition;
Demonstrated organizational and time management skills;
Commitment to maintain dignity and selfesteem of patients and families in delivery of care;
Proficient computer/technological skills;
Ability to work under pressure, request assistance when required, and to adapt to change rapidly.
