Job Duties/Responsibilities - 1. Receives and processes cash, cheques and charge payments using a computerized cash register equipped with POS scanning system.
- 2. Provides information and assistance over the telephone and in person to students, staff and the general public on a variety of bookstore related matters.
- 3. Prepares and verifies cash floats.
- 4. Assists in maintaining a variety of records, including cash reports, billing records, backordered items and customer data files.
- 5. Prices, restocks and merchandises store shelves and maintains a clean and tidy work environment.
- 6. Assists customers in locating books or stationery items. Places orders for out of stock or special order items.
- 7. Performs other related duties as required.
Qualifications
- Education and Experience
- Grade 12 including up to 1 year of specialized training and 9 months' related experience or an equivalent combination of training and/or experience may be substituted for the required qualifications.
Skills and Abilities- Proven interpersonal skills with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively as a member of a team.
- Good customer service and conflict management skills and the ability to function professionally and pleasantly during periods of stress.
- Ability to organize duties effectively.
- Ability to perform a variety of clerical duties, especially related to cashiering and receiving procedures.
- Ability to operate standard office equipment and a computerized POS system.
- Ability to receive and process cash and credit and debit card payments as well as to make change accurately and promptly.
- Good knowledge of ESL books and an ability to assist customers.
- Ability to lift moderately heavy books and boxes when necessary.
Salary Range - Prorated based on FTE
