Job Purpose


GSK is seeking a creative, dynamic, proactive summer student intern to work with an experienced team of Communications Professionals on GSK Canada's Corporate Communications Team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a post-secondary student to work as part of a high-paced communications team within a regulated industry, gaining invaluable experience in the delivery of multichannel internal and external communications initiatives.


Details (Your Responsibilities):

This role will provide YOU the opportunity to learn about marketing and participate in key activities to progress your career; these responsibilities include, but not limited to the following

  • Assist in the development of internal and external communications materials for multiple channels supporting corporate and commercial product communications as well as select Community Engagement initiatives.
  • Create communications for internal/external channels which may include, but not limited to, written materials (key messages; speaking points; Power Point presentations, press releases, social media content etc.) and graphics (posters, TV screens, infographics).
  • Assist in managing internal communications campaigns to keep employees apprised of corporate initiatives/priorities, branding initiatives, etc.
  • Monitoring of GSK's National media lines (English and French), including screening, tracking and responding to media inquiries where appropriate.
  • Distribute daily media clippings.
  • Support special projects & events with coordination, project management and content creation. Manage logistics for campaigns and events, such as room bookings, distribution lists, calendar invites etc.
  • Champion the development of Communications team meeting agendas in consultation with team members.
  • Liaise with Linguistics Team members to request individual translation projects and to keep them informed of larger projects with translation requirements to support appropriate resource allocation.
  • Liaise with various internal business partners in support of internal events or communication initiatives;
  • Work with external vendors (e.g. PR Agencies, Graphic Designers; Media Monitoring Services) as needed.

  • Current enrollment in postsecondary studies, Communications or related field required.
  • A team player who has a strong interest and passion for communications.
  • An individual who is reliable, creative, and resourceful in problem solving.
  • Strengths in verbal and written communication, information search, networking, teamwork, flexible thinking, customer focus and continuous improvement. Strong organizational skills are a must.
  • Firm grasp of social media platforms including LinkedIn and X (formerly Twitter).
  • Previous work experience in communications / public relations, media is an asset.
  • Proven ability to coordinate multiple priorities/projects of a significant scope in a fastpaced environment.

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Fluency in French (written and spoken) is a great asset.
  • Interest in the healthcare industry.
