This posting will be used to fill 1(one) term full-time position working 75 bi-weekly. It will establish a 12-month eligibility list which may be used to fill similar positions.

This job is based in the thriving and diverse city of Whitehorse in the beautiful Yukon.


Our team


Reporting to the Manager, Issues Management, this position provides communications, policy, and budget supports throughout Health and Social Services, supports the department to prepare for legislative sittings, and translates complex system and operational issues into concise and clear materials for use by senior management and government officials.

Policy and Issues Analysts work closely with leadership and senior management across the department to provide expertise, analysis and strategic solutions.

The Policy and Issues Analyst will synthesize information and data to draft information notes, decision notes, options papers, formal letters, briefing materials and content for use in the Legislative Assembly, and other written materials as required.


This opportunity


As a Policy and Issues Analyst, you will be responsible for developing and implementing policy and program materials related to a number of high-profile, emerging, and innovative projects in Health and Social Services.

You will be able to refine ideas and options and work independently to develop documents and products for use by internal and external stakeholders.

To be successful in this role, you will have a keen understanding of policy development and approval processes, legislative processes, have an eye for detail, strong analytical skills and excellent written and verbal communication skills.

An ideal Policy and Issues Analyst will know how to build relationships with key officials regarding strategic priorities and stay current on new and emerging issues.

You must be comfortable juggling multiple time-sensitive priorities with evolving and fast deadlines, and taking ownership of projects to ensure they are completed in a timely manner.

_Essential qualifications_
Please submit your resume clearly demonstrating how you meet the qualifications below. Selections for further consideration will be based solely on the information you provide in your resume.

  • A degree in Political or Social Sciences, English, Communications, Public Policy, or Public Administration, or related field;
  • Experience developing a variety of written content for the public and senior management.
  • Experience providing policy support, analysis and expertise to senior levels of leadership; and
  • Experience researching, compiling, and synthesizing information to provide evidencebased recommendations.
