Position:
Part-Time Supported Independent Living (SIL) Worker (Union Position)


Rate of Pay:
$22.17/hour


Current Location:
SIL (Jane & Lawrence and Keele & Wilson)


Hours and Days of Work
Tuesday to Saturday from 3pm to 7pm

(Days and hours of work will be further discussed during the interview process)


Qualifications

  • Diploma or degree program in a related field (Developmental Services Worker, Social Service Worker, Community Service Worker, Behavioural Science, Recreation and Leisure)
  • At least one year of experience working with individuals that have developmental disabilities
  • Must have experience dealing with challenging behaviors because of the possibility of working with aggressive clients
  • Must have a valid G driver's license
  • Strong written and oral communication as well as problemsolving skills.
  • Must have the ability to work as a team and independently
  • French language is an asset

Job Duties:


  • Primary worker for a small case load. Responsible for monitoring client person centered plans, making home visits to clients place of residence, maintaining client bank account information, refer clients to appropriate employment or day services, provide supervisor with reports, and maintaining upto date documentation as required.
  • Help clients develop their skills and provide training, support and ongoing follow up by working systematically with clients to attain their goals.
  • Prepare meals, assist with light housekeeping, and develop socialization skills
  • Liaise with clients, their families, outside agencies and the general public. Attend meetings as scheduled. To perform other related duties are required.
