An exciting part of the Suncor Downstream business is the Asset Management team, which delivers hundreds of growth and sustaining projects yearly to build and maintain the Petro-Canada network of Retail service stations and Wholesale assets across Canada.

As a Project Leader in the Asset Management (AM) organization, you will support the delivery of projects that provide energy to our customers to keep them moving toward what matters most to them.

This means delivering projects on time and on budget, with strong collaboration and stakeholder engagement. You will be assigned a portfolio of projects to manage scoping through design, construction execution, commissioning and close-out.

Our team completes many kinds of projects at our Petro-Canada sites across Canada, such as design and construction of new gas stations with car washes, replacement of critical equipment, or addition of Electric Vehicle (EV) charging stations.


Minimum Requirements:

  • Relevant technical diploma or university degree with 10+ years of increasing responsibility in various positions on commercial construction and petroleum projects, working for Owner Organizations or for major contractor firms. A preference for
  • 48 years team leadership experience on execution of diverse projects varying in size, scope and complexity
  • A safetyfirst mindset and understanding of best practices for safe construction execution
  • Understanding of project management best practices and support functions (i.e. EHS, engineering, construction, project controls, supplychain, etc.)
  • Experienced in hazard identification, risk mitigation and management, and incident management
  • Knowledge of building code, fire code, and municipal permitting processes
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and relationship management skills to work effectively with stakeholders who are geographically dispersed across Canada
  • Proven selfstarter who takes initiative and accepts responsibility
  • Comfortable working independently through ambiguity
  • Ability to travel frequently to project sites within Ontario, or periodically to other regions in Canada

Responsibilities:


  • Execute projects following the stagegate model (ADEM) while adhering to Suncor's Journey to Zero safety mindset and safety standards
  • Define project deliverables, set and manage costs and schedule, and ensure stakeholder management
  • Coordinate with external consultants to complete technical design documents and drawings, in accordance with building codes, fire codes, and Suncor standards
  • Perform technical reviews and evaluations of engineered drawings, architectural drawings, reports and proposals, and equipment designs and specifications
  • Obtain Municipal/Regional/Provincial permits for constructions projects, including applicable utility connections
  • Manage project procurement of Suncorsupplied goods & services in collaboration with our Supply Chain Management and Project Controls teams
  • Monitor and ensure safe field construction execution by general contractors
  • Manage, track, and report on project status and risks

Location and other Key Details:

  • You will work out of our Oakville office, located at 3275 Rebecca Street
  • Hours of work are a regular 40hour work week, Monday to Friday
