Lehigh Hanson is advancing the world's first full-scale carbon capture project for its cement plant located at its Edmonton, Alberta facility. This project, which seeks to be operational in 2026, involves extensive engineering and technical aspects as well as extensive outreach and engagement with provincial and federal agencies to secure critical funding. This is a world leading project, the first in the world of it's kind.


The Communications Manager is an integral member of the Edmonton CCUS project team that develops and manages communications among all project stakeholders.

Located in Edmonton, Alberta, this role supports the $1.3 billion project in developing specific communications designed to ensure coordination, maximize the engagement and ensure the effectiveness of our efforts in moving the project forward to ultimate operational status.

Key stakeholders who will be the focus of communications efforts include company employees and leaders, government agencies, appointed officials and elected leaders, vendors, supporting consultants and agencies, trade associations, suppliers, the general public, and other groups.

This position will reside at the project office in Edmonton, Alberta. The position offers a competitive benefits package.


What you'll get to do:

  • Work collaboratively with the Edmonton CCUS project team, internal and external stakeholders to drive high levels of positive engagement and support effective collaboration and outcomes for the project
  • Creatively develop new communications vehicles as required to support project goals, deliverables and stakeholder engagement
  • Manage a complex series of communications materials and events, ensuring coordination of messaging and outreach efforts
  • Coordinate with Lehigh Hanson Corporate Communications, Government Affairs, and Government Relations Consultants to ensure company and Group alignment, as needed with internal and external communications
  • Create and distribute communications using multiple forms of electronic media
  • Develop detailed presentations using specific templates, color schemes and naming conventions
  • Create and maintain feedback mechanisms from the organization to the project team to assist in adaptation of messaging
  • Support project initiatives and outcomes by generating and publishing engaging and relevant content on various digital channels.

Who we are looking for:

  • 5+ years of industryspecific communications or marketing experience or equivalent
  • Excellent communication skills, specifically written
  • Expert skills in MS PowerPoint, Word and Publisher
  • Proven capability to author communications
  • Advanced organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines
  • Ability to manage several initiatives concurrently and be capable of shifting priorities quickly as necessary.
  • Deep understanding of how to layer communications to drive understanding around complex topics
  • Ability to work with others and offer a point of view
  • Ability to deliver presentations
  • Degree, preferably in journalism, marketing or communications
