Role Summary & Purpose


The role of the Procurement & Purchasing Manager is to plan, execute and finalize the supply management strategy of construction & development.

This role spearheads project planning, consideration of resource availability, operational requirements, foreign/domestic markets, price negotiation, inventory control, and planning; in addition to assisting with purchasing within the Property Management division ad hoc.


The incumbent with utilize expert and tacit knowledge to purchase goods and services that meet both the quality requirements and specifications within budgetary requirements, in conjunction with building and maintaining strategic relationships with key suppliers.


Responsibilities:


  • Procurement, Purchasing & Operations_
  • Cultivate a strategic purchasing plan for both Construction & Property Management Divisions.
  • Maintain ethical and professional relationships with various consultants, vendors, subcontractors, and authority bodies as a representative of Old Oak.
  • Maximize overall project budget and supply cost effectiveness, identify production efficiencies and inefficiencies, as well as customer satisfaction via strategic planning.
  • Assist the Interior Design Manager in material procurement of new projects; in particular, identifying potential foreign suppliers (Asia, Europe, etc.).
  • Establish and maintain policies, procedures, and processes for all aspects of purchasing, in addition to managing purchasing document templates for company use.
  • Monitor performance and production standards for vendors.
  • Obtain necessary documents, clearances, and approvals required (both internally and externally) to execute work.
  • Perform onsite inspections to ensure quality control of materials.
  • Facilitate clear and concise informational exchanges between Old Oak, vendors, and bodies of authority.
  • Formulate and maintain detailed product inventories and information.
  • Track significant pricing trends and provide recommendations for early and/or bulk purchasing of materials.
  • Legal & Administrative_
  • Maintain the safety and security of personnel, corporate assets, public, and private property.
  • Direct vendors to ensure all contractual obligations are fulfilled safely, on time and within budget.
  • Review and approve invoices for accuracy when required.
  • Obtain and provide cut sheets and samples of product as required.
  • Participate in warehouse and operational planning as required.
  • Maintain uptodate knowledge of applicable codes, standards, and Acts, as well as both foreign and domestic regulations.
  • Miscellaneous_
  • Contribute recommendations for improvements to products, procedures, policies, and incentives and commit to Old Oak's "Growth" mindset.
  • Act as Old Oak's representative in the procurement of project materials.
  • Support field and office personnel as required.
  • Attend meetings inoffice (for both internal and external clients), as well as trade shows on an asneeded basis.
  • Able to multitask and reprioritize according to project and goal timelines.
  • Ensure all company policies are upheld and compliant.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:


  • Postsecondary education in construction, project management, or related field.
  • PMP Certification is an asset, but not required.
  • 8+ years of purchasing management experience, ideally in the construction supply industry.
  • Proficient in construction terminology, blueprint reading, and international purchasing.
  • Verifiable track record of building successful relationships within the construction industry.
  • Demonstratable skills in problem resolution, conflict resolution, and both oral and written communications.
  • Demonstratable skill and experience in Microsoft Excel (alongside other MS Office Suite programs).
  • Incumbent must be physically able to lift (up to) 50lb, bend, stretch, and stand for extended periods of time on a regular basis. They must be able to work outdoors in all climates.
  • Vehicle required to travel to various sites (All currently within London, ON), in addition to reliable transportation.
