Position Summary:

Primary Responsibilities:

  • In close collaboration with the Director, Strategic Initiatives, develop a strong understanding of the University's key fundraising priorities and the identified interests of top philanthropic prospects.
  • Work with central and Facultybased fundraisers, Deans and Principal Investigators to identify and articulate philanthropic gift opportunities aligned with strategic priorities.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of best practices and business models that achieve buyin and full participation from Deans, Directors, academic and administrative leadership around strategic projects.
  • Assist with the development of business plans, budgets and governance structures to ensure rigor and longterm sustainability and growth for identified strategic initiatives, in close collaboration with university colleagues as relevant.
  • Help nurture strong relationships within and between University Advancement the campus community, serving as a bridge between the University's fundraising and associated functions in support of our core mission of research, education, and service to society.
  • Work to improve the quality and consistency of proposals and cases for support across University Advancement that reflect industry best practices.
  • Support capacity building within University Advancement for strategic initiatives fundraising.

Other Qualifying skills and abilities:

  • Outstanding communications skills and deep intellectual curiosity
  • Ability to elucidate and articulate organizational fundraising priorities vis à vis interests of top philanthropic prospects.
  • Proven acumen in developing Primary Gifts strategies aimed at maximizing fundraising success.
  • A demonstrated ability to nurture successful relationships and to cultivate credibility and trust among internal and external stakeholders.
  • Comfort in navigating a complex organization environment, and the capacity to work autonomously and as part of a team in a fastpaced, changing, deadlineoriented environment.
  • Impeccable spoken and written English; strong spoken and written French.
  • Prior experience in the field of higher education or in a nonprofit reliant on fundraising is an asset.
  • Knowledge of French and English: McGill University is an Englishlanguage university where day to day duties may require English communication both verbally and in writing. The level of English required for this position has been assessed at a level 4 on a scale of 04.
