The Salvation Army Sunset Lodge -LTC facility is currently seeking an Assistant Cook / Line Cook to join the Food Department for our 108-bed complex care facility.

Part-time / Casual positions are currently available.


The Assistant Cook prepares and serves nutritious meals as outlined on menus in accordance with applicable food service and safety regulations as instructed by the Cook and Facility Manager.


Prepares meals; may prepare for special dietary needs of the residents cook a variety of meals from scratch using standard recipes and recognized culinary techniques.

Transport and serve meals as required. Keep work stations clean at all times and participate in general cleaning and maintenance of kitchen work areas. Follow guidelines for the safety and security of food and equipment and monitoring practices to ensure adherence. High School and two years of recent related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.


The successful job applicant will have completed High School, plus specialized courses of up 6 months (
Cook 1 ), or an equivalent combination of education.

The incumbent must have to two years of recent related experience, with at least one year of institutional cooking experience.

Certification by Food Safe Level 1, WHIMIS.


SALARY RANGE:
Per HEU/HEABC Collective Agreement

$27.56-$29.15 per hour
