Contract Full Time - 13 Month Duration**
Salary Range: $100, 172- $125,213 per annum

Infrastructure Planning, Partnerships and Compliance helps achieve our mission of "Providing Clean Water for Life" by protecting and managing our water resources, planning new water and wastewater infrastructure to meet growth demands, asset management planning to maintain the existing $26 Billion infrastructure in a state of good repair, planning and supporting water and wastewater regulatory compliance and quality management systems.

We build and manage strategic partnerships with the Local Municipalities, Ontario Clean Water Agency, Conservation Authorities, and other municipalities and external agencies.


What you will do in this role:Project Manager will lead complex water/wastewater projects including (in the office and in the field) including downspout survey and smoke testing contract, design of the disconnection work, and administration of the downspout disconnection work, integration of Inflow and Infiltration source mitigation with established programs within SOGR, Capital and Operational Programs; risk/condition assessment studies related to infrastructure system/service improvements for Inflow and Infiltration and recommend new mitigation infrastructure, renewal and rehabilitation strategies and actions plans.

  • Provide support to the implementation of the multiyear inflow and infiltration strategy
  • Lead projects related to Inflow and Infiltration through the: lead the downspout disconnection program, assist with asset management, existing infrastructure strategies, identify critical infrastructure system opportunities and technical/feasibility studies related to water/wastewater infrastructure rehabilitation and replacement and new I/I mitigation infrastructure recommendation
  • Work in collaboration with cross
- sectional teams within water/wastewater asset management, SOGR, operations, capital works and deliver recommendations for improvement, guide external agencies and provide preliminary budgets, designs and scope of work for capital projects.

  • Build sustainable relationships with local and neighboring Municipalities as well as external agencies to collaborate on all I/I aspects of infrastructure coordination and planning
  • Review and ensure the impact of I/I to existing and planned water and wastewater infrastructure are minimized or mitigated
  • Prepare feasibility studies for servicing I/I detection and prevention including policy and process development
  • Provide project management and team leadership in the execution of assigned projects, including all planning and deliverables while identifying resources, stakeholders, funding and related challenges, prepare project charters, terms of reference, identify and manage scope and projects deliverables.
  • Develop and prepare request for tender (RFT), request for proposals (RFPs), request for quote (RFQ), prepares technical specifications, forms of tender and special provision for projects
  • Prepare Council reports and procurement awards
  • Develop and deliver water and wastewater infrastructure I/I capital plans and budget
  • Monitor all project financials and progress, negotiate project changes in scope to minimize Peel's financial risk while maintaining the quality and schedule of the project, supervise consultants and the contractors, develop and execute communication plans with public/council and other key stakeholders, collaborate with approval agencies (MECP, MNR, CA, Utilities, area municipalities, MTO, DFO, etc.) in the execution of the project

What the role requires:


  • 5 years of relevant I/I Project Management experience with strong technical knowledge of I/I detection and prevention as well as planning and design of water and wastewater infrastructure and related functions (functional knowledge of: pressure zones, sewer sheds and sewer catchment areas, fluid mechanics, hydraulics, inflows, condition assessment and engineering technologies)
  • University/College degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering, Geo Science or Earth Sciences
  • Clear understanding of engineering principles in the civil engineering field, and related project team planning and leadership.
