The YWCA Metro Vancouver has 13 housing sites providing safe, affordable housing to single mothers and their children in various locations across Metro Vancouver.

The Rent Collections Clerk reports to the Associate Director, and is responsible for the timely collection of monies owed to the YWCA by tenants/residents.


Responsibilities:


  • Identify tenants/residents who have unpaid rent whether from nonpayment or returned item (NSF or stop payment);
  • Identify tenants/residents who have unpaid utilities;
  • Contact tenants/residents about unpaid rent and/or utilities and attempt to collect amounts owing;
  • Negotiate payments plans with tenants/residents where appropriate;
  • Provide tenants/residents with proper paperwork to facilitate rent payments and follow up, as required;
  • Escalate issues of unpaid rent to the Property Manager for further action;
  • Record tenant financial information in Arcori including PADs;
  • Maintain accurate records;
  • Contact tenants/residents on Income Assistance whose rent goes directly to the YWCA where we have not received it on the last Wednesday of the month, to let them know so that they can arrange for their rent to be paid by the 1st of the month;
  • Go over the Arcori rent roll 7 days before the end of the month to ensure that it is correct and let the Finance Department know that they can proceed with processing rents.
  • Follow YWCA policies and procedures;
  • Provide monthly reports to the management team of any arrears and collection plans;
  • Be respectful in interactions with tenants and residents, and maintaining appropriate professional boundaries;
  • Work collaboratively with other YWCA staff including the Finance Department, Rent Review Clerk and the Property Manager;
  • Must be willing to use Microsoft Outlook, Share Point, One Drive, Relias Training, ADP Workforce Now and Safetyline; and
  • Other duties, as assigned

Skills & Qualifications:


  • Collection experience would be an asset;
  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills (both verbal and written);
  • Ability to work independently;
  • Appropriate boundaries;
  • Some experience with BC Housing managed properties would be an asset;
  • Understanding of Residential Tenancy Act as it pertains to tenancy agreements and rent payments;
  • Previous experience with Microsoft Outlook, Share Point, One Drive, Relias Training, ADP Workforce Now and/or Safetyline an asset;
  • Positive criminal record check clearance; and
  • Successful applicants are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID19, exemption requests must be supported by valid, legal documents.

Salary:
$24.70/hr
