Job Purpose:


  • Reporting to Shift Supervisor, House & Grounds, the Maintenance Technician is responsible for external grounds maintenance, and for completing urgent repairs of a minor nature within in the Casino. Job responsibilities include utilizing various hand tools, power tools, and equipment to carry out specified job duties.

Responsibilities:


  • Conduct regular external grounds inspections and maintenance on the casino property, including parking lots and the Parkade (e.g., sweeping and pressure washing, picking up and emptying garbage containers, cleaning ashtrays, washing windows & doors, etc.)
  • Maintain landscaping by cutting grass, removing weeds, watering flowers, removing snow/ice, sanding, salting, etc.
  • Inspect irrigation system to ensure all sprinkler heads are operational.
  • Perform minor maintenance and cleaning of internal/external fixtures, furnishings, and equipment.
  • Replace exterior low voltage lighting, install and remove external signage around Casino property as required.
  • Follow directions from the Shift Supervisors and the Manager; respond to radio calls for service.
  • Perform Preoperational Daily Inspection Form on each piece of equipment prior to use.
  • Inspect and maintain all equipment and tools prior and after use.
  • Install and remove external signage around Casino property as required.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the work shop area and equipment storage areas.
  • Complete and update Maintenance department logs.
  • Assist in moving and assembling miscellaneous furnishings; remove decorative rocks from interior/exteriors locations as required.
  • Liaise with contractors working in the casino/Parkade and assist as required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Primary Qualifications:


  • Completion of a Grade 12 High School diploma is preferred.
  • A Certificate in WHMIS GHS and Equipment (skid steer and forklift driving) is required, however may be acquired on the job, and requires regular recertification.
  • A minimum of one year prior experience working in grounds keeping or general maintenance.
  • Training is required for all other operational equipment (i.e. Grove, Boom Lift, Scissor Lift, MadVac, etc.), and will also be provided on the job.
  • Having and maintaining a valid Manitoba Class 5 Drivers License (Full Stage).
  • Must be physically capable of performing all duties of the position.
  • Satisfactory work performance in the preceding twelve (12) months is a requirement. Attendance rate will be a factor in the prescreening process.

Secondary Qualifications:


  • Bilingual (French/English) language skills.
