Goal of the Role:


Are you looking for an opportunity to flex your new journalism skills? Do you have an interest in personal finance and sharing that interest with millions of readers? We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated writer to join our editorial team.

This role is a hybrid position out of our midtown Toronto office located steps from Eglinton Station.


Responsibilities:


  • Collect, verify and analyze information through online research
  • Write stories rich in content with a reliable and factual, yet conversational style
  • Assess existing articles for needed updates and revisions
  • Incorporate SEO recommendations without losing the article's liveliness, tone, and flow
  • Source and select engaging photos that will catch and keep a reader's attention
  • Collaborate with our editorial team to develop and pitch story ideas that align with MoneyWise's voice and target audiences
  • Build article pages in the content management system
  • Stay up to date on financial news and trends and use your knowledge to inform article topics and angles

Qualifications:


  • Excellent writing and editing skills, with the ability to produce clean, engaging and informative copy on tight deadlines
  • A strong instinct for story flow and content organization
  • Strong research skills and the ability to synthesize complex financial information into clear, concise articles
  • A foundational understanding of content monetization
  • Experience writing about personal finance topics preferred
  • Knowledge of or experience with SEO strategies and analytics
  • Knowledge of AP/CP style
  • An ambitious and selfdirected approach
  • Flexibility to pivot quickly to align with the shifting goals of the team and the organization
  • A growth mindset with a willingness to learn, collaborate, and develop on an ongoing basis
