_Technical Writer_ to join our team in
_Collingwood, ON for a 15-month contract_.

About the Position:

_The Technical Writer is responsible for creating and maintaining technical documentation for all MacLean Engineering equipment including underground mobile mining equipment, municipal equipment and attachments as well as industrial equipment.

This position requires the following proficiencies:
_

Creating and revising operator's and service manuals within the guidelines of industry standards.
Authoring and maintaining Publications material listings for internal MacLean Engineering use by various departments including Engineering, Product Management and Field Service
Author and maintain Operator's Manuals with support from Engineering and Marketing departments
Work with all MacLean Engineering Departments in the streamlining and standardization of all our manuals
Work with the department manager to develop and maintain meaningful departmental metrics, schedules and workflows
Champion technical publications process improvement initiatives
Participate, as requested, in customer site visits for the purpose of validating vehicle operating and maintenance instructions
Lead, when required, teams of junior writers and related team members, to complete larger projects within tight project deadlines
Mentor Technical Writers in all areas of technical writing, document design, writing standards, content reusability, and document maintenance
Work with management to select and maintain software tools used to create technical manuals
Act as the arbiter for information included in all technical manuals
Diploma or Degree in a related discipline is required
Technical Writing certificate from a recognized educational facility is an asset
Project Management experience would be an asset
Five (5) + years technical experience in a production and/or heavy mobile equipment environment, preferably mining
Five (5) + years' experience writing technical documentation, including Operator's Guides, Maintenance Manuals, and support documentation.
Two (2) + years documentation related projectmanagement experience
A clear understanding of design procedures and a strong ability to read and understand engineering drawings, wiring diagrams and schematics
Experience with Adobe Acrobat, Adobe FrameMaker, MadCap Flare, XML or DITA, Corel Draw, LinkOne, and would be an asset
Excellent proofreading and editorial skills for reviewing electronic documentation with regards to proper format, spelling, and grammar
Excellent communication skills as the ability to communicate effectively with senior management is required.
