The Inclusion Support Branch produces, catalogues and circulates educational alternate format resources (ex. braille, tactile, large print, e-text and audio materials) for students with print disabilities in the K-12 and post-secondary systems.

- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
- Must have or be able to obtain Unified English Braille (UEB) certification after one year of employment
Qualifications:
Essential:
- Certification in Unified English Braille (UEB) transcription as recognized by the International Council on English Braille (ICEB) or an equivalent combination of experience and training.
- Experience producing, proofreading and editing UEB braille material.
- Experience using braille transcription software such as Duxbury or similar software.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to develop strong working relationships with colleagues in a team environment.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to set priorities and complete work within timelines in an environment with changing demands.
- Excellent verbal communication skills.
- Excellent written communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy.
Desired:
- Experience in transcription of UEB technical material.
- Experience creating tactile diagrams to replace educational graphics.
- Experience with using equipment for production of braille material such as a manual brailler, braille embosser, scanner and thermoform machine.
Duties:
As a Braille Transcriber the primary function of this position is to create, edit, store and print alternate format resources for students who use braille.
This position also uses braille production software and specialized equipment and production methods to produce complex two-dimensional graphs, charts, diagrams and maps to replace educational graphics for students.
