Job Description:

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Lead, coach and develop a team of technical Investigative Advisors responsible for preventing, detecting and investigating fraudulent activities across our Insurance Industry, HR and Vendor and L&H Travel Medical lines of businesses.
  • Work proactively and collaboratively with stakeholder partners to identify and appropriately action fraudulent claims flagged by our industry fraud consortium or manually referred by external sources.
  • Responsible for participating and supporting Industry Working Groups with the objective of tackling new fraud trends affecting the Canadian Insurance Industry impacting TD Insurance.
  • Manage team's workload, productivity and performance by creating the appropriate environment for our colleagues to be their best self.
  • Advocate for fraud prevention and foster/maintain appropriate fraud awareness in the business.
  • Maintain awareness of industry and regulatory developments, emerging risks affecting the industry and new technologies and work processes designed to keep up with fraudster's sophisticated techniques.
  • Increase effectiveness and results of fraud investigations by identifying new or changed patterns of fraud practices and adapting accordingly.
  • Responsible for leading business projects intended to enhance our industry intelligence capabilities in collaboration with industry partners and internal TDI stakeholders.
  • Promote operational and customer service excellence within the department while balancing the need to conduct appropriate, thorough investigations to detect and reduce fraud.
  • Ensure investigators are trained and strictly adhere to the code of business conduct and regulatory requirements, especially those related to privacy and exceptions to privacy legislation.
  • Be familiar and comfortable working with privacy legislation, and making decisions on privacy and disclosure issues in consultation with your supervisor (PIPEDA/PIPA etc.)
  • Represent and maintain TD Insurance's best interests within industry consortiums and events
  • Responsible for tracking, monitoring and delivering financial results based on annual plans and monthly objectives.
  • Own, communicate and report financial results, trends and drivers to explain any deviations vs plan.
  • Identify, execute and deliver on incremental productivity benefits year over year

Requirements:


  • 5+ years investigation or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years management or supervisory experience
  • Minimum college level working proficiency
  • Experience with the litigation process is an asset
  • Experience and/or strong knowledge of sales, underwriting, and multiline Claims products and processes.
  • Superior knowledge of the principles of casualty, accident benefit, residential and automobile physical damage insurance and claims handling
  • A demonstrated passion and commitment to fraud detection and prevention
  • Knowledge of fraud and privacy legislation in multiple provinces is an asset
  • Knowledge of insurance red flags, industry trends, fraud related case law is an asset
  • Strong risk management acumen (Identification, Control and Reporting)
  • Proven ability to deliver on team KPI's
  • Focus on continuous improvement of processes
