Assessment accommodation


Duties:

Facilitation and/or delivery of various interventions and activities for women offenders with mental health needs.

Delivery of behavioural interventions with offenders in support of approved mental health treatment models.

This will be done with the functional supervision from a licensed mental health professional when related to treatment activities, or the Manager, Intensive Intervention Strategy.


Work environment:


The Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) is the federal government agency responsible for administering sentences of a term of two years or more, as imposed by the courts.

CSC is responsible for managing institutions of various security levels and supervising offenders under conditional release in the community.

EDUCATION

  • Completion of a two year postsecondary diploma with specialization in one of the following areas: social work, behavioural science technology, social services work, mental health, addictions, psycho education; or in a field related to the duties of the position.

EXPERIENCE

  • Experience intervening with women* in crisis.
  • Experience working with people who experience mental health issues and/or problematic behaviours.
  • The term "women" includes those who identify as women, as well as people who are nonbinary.

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor's degree in social work; sociology; psychology; education; psycho education or any other field related to the duties of the position.
Degree equivalency


EXPERIENCE

  • Experience working with women* with mental health needs.
  • Experience working with Indigenous women* or women* from other ethnocultural groups.
  • Experience in offering treatment to clients using the Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT).
  • Experience working in a psychiatric or mental health facility.
  • Experience working with women* offenders in a correctional environment (institutional or community).
  • Experience working with individuals who are at risk for selfinjurious or suicidal behavior.
  • Experience developing and facilitating programs in a group or individual setting
