The Health Care Aide shall provide personal care and other services to residents in a safe and efficient manner in accordance with the policies and procedures of the Home.
Job Details
1.
7:30 am to 4:00 pm
- Monday to Friday (full time hours)
- Wage based on experience and certificates
Employment Terms:
- Must have the ability to commute to work (17 Genier Street, St. Albert, ON)
- Must have a Canadian work permit
- Must be bilingual
- Medication Administration Certificate (requirement)
Key Responsibilities:
- Provides services and interacts with residents and resident family members in a professional manner
- Administers medication to residents as needed
- Complete all assigned paperwork
- Participates as a member of the care team and provides support to the other members of the Services team
- Observes and adheres to all policies and procedures, work standards and safety regulations
- Assists and attends to care needs of the residents as required
- Maintains work and storage areas in a clean, safe and sanitary manner
- Aware of employees and supervisor's responsibilities and follows all health and safety policies and procedures
- Works safely to reduce the risk of injury to self, coworkers, and residents
- Is alert to, remedies, and promptly reports all actual or potentially hazardous situations
- Wears personal protective equipment (or clothing) as required by task, MSDS, or home policy
- Other related duties as assigned
Education/Experience:
- Previous experience in providing personal care
- Preferred postsecondary education in related care fields of PSW/HCA/ DSW certification
- Must be able to read and communicate effectively in French and English
- Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions in French and English
- Demonstrated empathy and understanding of the needs of seniors
- Effective interpersonal relationship and conflict resolution skills
- Ability to organize work and work under strict time constraints
- Must have a high standard of hygiene and cleanliness
- Must be able to operate related equipment
- Must be able to respond to emergency situations
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time and lift and carrying heavy items
Salary:
$17.00-$20.50 per hour
Schedule:
- Day shift
- Monday to Friday
