Description

Working closely with the General Manager and other managers as a hands-on employee you will be responsible for the overall cleanliness of the property and its contents.

Working in conjunction with Maintenance Manager to ensure property both front and back of the house meets and in most cases exceeds Canad Standards for cleanliness and efficiency.


Key Accountabilities/Responsibilities

  • Daily walkthrough of all areas of the property to ensure that asset is being cleaned and maintained and any issues are addressed immediately
  • Develops and implements checklists for support staff to ensure asset is constantly being monitored
  • Monitors status and efficiency of laundry equipment
  • Manages the housekeeping team to the highest standards.
  • Ensures that the property meets all health and safety standards set for by city and provincial regulatory bodies.
  • Develops and implements processes, procedures and standards for assigned departments which support achievement of service goals.
  • Monitors achievement of budget and takes corrective steps as appropriate
  • Ensures monthly payroll and purchases are within budgeted amounts.
  • Responsible for counting of department inventory
  • Determines appropriate staffing levels for forecasted business and schedules employees accordingly
  • Develops and implements processes for staff to advise Housekeeping Manager of issues relating to the asset, guest satisfaction and overall health and safety.
  • Oversees equipment related to all departments and ensures maintenance is scheduled in conjunction with managers or if needed outside contractors.
  • Involved in hotel Health and Safety committee.
  • Communicates with General Manager and corporate office personnel depending on the event or situation.
  • Coordinates regular meetings with reporting departments to ensure communication is maintained and challenges are met in an effective and timely fashion.
  • Effectively communicates with other managers to advise changes, challenges, concerns
  • Develops and implements strategies and practices which support employee engagement
  • Attendance at department head meetings.
  • Communicates performance expectations and provides employees with ongoing feedback
  • Provides employees with coaching and counseling as needed to achieve performance objectives and their fullest potential.
  • Creates 100% guest satisfaction by providing employees with the training and resources they need to maximize employee engagement and deliver service and teamwork
  • Communicates and reinforces the vision for Canad Certified and service to employees
  • Ensures that employees provide genuine hospitality and teamwork on an ongoing basis
  • Uses teamwork to support guests and employees
  • Seeks opportunities to improve the customer experience by seeking customer feedback, reviewing management reports and developing strategies to improve department and hotel services
  • Provides employees with the tools, training and environment they need to deliver Canad Certified service and teamwork.
  • In conjunction with Maintenance Manager creates and implements a proper and effective Preventative Maintenance Program.
  • Ensures all cleaning supplies are store safely and that all staff are certified in WHIMIS training.
  • Conducts monthly linen inventories and advises General Manager of par levels.
  • Maintain cleanliness and order of public area of property

Qualifications

  • Previous Housekeeping Manager experience essential, preferably in a hotel environment. Consideration will be given to previous experience in a hospital or medical facility.
  • Excellent delegation and organizational skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills
