OPEN POSITIONS

Our Railcars Maintenance shop located at Rivière des Prairies at Montreal, Quebec is looking for motivated and dynamic individuals with at least a High School Diploma or Equivalent for his Blast Department.

The key function of a blaster is to operate the blast equipment to remove paint, dirt, scale and other materials from inside and/or outside if railcars and associated parts with abrasive steel grit.

This role doesn't require experiences in Rail or related activities, GATX will be providing all necessary trainings to safely and sucessfully complete all essential tasks.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to:

Adjust blasting equipment, change hoses and fittings as needed.
Execute assigned tasks according to the Health and Safety directives at GATX, in particular with the wearing of Personal Protective Equipment (protective clothing, helmets, goggles, gangs, etc.);
Inspect the quality of the work performed our customers has been carried out in a timely manner and according to GATX standards.
Maintain a clean and organized workplace.
Support ongoing awareness in Health and Safety and where possible recommend changes and improvements to existing policies and programs.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must be able to stoop for extended periods and routinely move from kneeling to standing positions
Must be able to perform overhead work for extended periods
Must be able to lift (vertically) up to 85 pounds from the ground surface
Must be able to push / pull (horizontally) up to 140 pounds
Must be able to climb ladders and perform work at elevated heights
Must be able to work in extreme temperature environments
Must be able to physically enter confined space (rail car manways as small as 18" in diameter) and work in enclosed environments

WORK SCHEDULES

Morning Shift:
Monday to Friday: 6:00AM - 2:30PM

Afternoon Shift:
Monday to Thursday: 2:30 PM -1:00 AM
