Description

This is a full-time, 10-month permanent position in Clinical Support Services.

Under the direction of the Audiologists, the Audiometric Technician will screen and review newcomers hearing and also identify (school-age) students who require referrals to the Winnipeg School Division audiologist.

Duties and responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

Select, prepare and present materials consistent with the program designed by an audiologist
Delivery of services that are consistent with the treatment objectives
Conduct basic hearing screening for all newcomer students under the direction of an audiologist (basic testing)
Provide hearing consultation and hearing loss awareness information to schoolage students, families and interpreters
Provide technical assistance to newcomer students by performing hearing aid troubleshooting and basic hearing aid repairs
Calibration of screening equipment
Support the use of sound field systems for schools including delivery, setup and maintenance, maintaining inventory for schools

Qualifications:

Complete high school education
Manitoba Industrial Audiometric Technical Certificate is required or enrolled in a related program and working towards certification may be considered
Minimum oneyear experience directly related in the field or a combination of education and experience may be considered
Must have a valid Class 5F Manitoba driver's licence and use of a vehicle
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to adapt testing process to accommodate the needs of students being served
Ability to work in a professional and collaborative manner across multiple locations with all WSD staff
Experience working in a culturally diverse environment
Ability to prioritize a large workload and work independently
Ability to work in a fast paced environment and work effectively under pressure to meet deadlines
Demonstrated problem solving skills
Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
