This is a full-time, 10-month permanent position in Clinical Support Services.


Under the direction of the Audiologists, the Audiometric Technician will screen and review newcomers hearing and also identify (school-age) students who require referrals to the Winnipeg School Division audiologist.

Duties and responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

  • Select, prepare and present materials consistent with the program designed by an audiologist
  • Delivery of services that are consistent with the treatment objectives
  • Conduct basic hearing screening for all newcomer students under the direction of an audiologist (basic testing)
  • Provide hearing consultation and hearing loss awareness information to schoolage students, families and interpreters
  • Provide technical assistance to newcomer students by performing hearing aid troubleshooting and basic hearing aid repairs
  • Calibration of screening equipment
  • Support the use of sound field systems for schools including delivery, setup and maintenance, maintaining inventory for schools

Qualifications:

  • Complete high school education
  • Manitoba Industrial Audiometric Technical Certificate is required or enrolled in a related program and working towards certification may be considered
  • Minimum oneyear experience directly related in the field or a combination of education and experience may be considered
  • Must have a valid Class 5F Manitoba driver's licence and use of a vehicle
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to adapt testing process to accommodate the needs of students being served
  • Ability to work in a professional and collaborative manner across multiple locations with all WSD staff
  • Experience working in a culturally diverse environment
  • Ability to prioritize a large workload and work independently
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment and work effectively under pressure to meet deadlines
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality

Salary:
$24.11-$28.72 per hour


Schedule:

  • 8 hour shift
  • Monday to Friday

Experience:

- related: 1 year (preferred)


Licence/Certification:

  • Manitoba Industrial Audiometric Technical Certificate (preferred)
  • Manitoba Driver's Licence Class 5F (required)
