Audiometric Technician - Winnipeg, Canada - WINNIPEG SCHOOL DIVISION
Description
This is a full-time, 10-month permanent position in Clinical Support Services.
Under the direction of the Audiologists, the Audiometric Technician will screen and review newcomers hearing and also identify (school-age) students who require referrals to the Winnipeg School Division audiologist.
- Select, prepare and present materials consistent with the program designed by an audiologist
- Delivery of services that are consistent with the treatment objectives
- Conduct basic hearing screening for all newcomer students under the direction of an audiologist (basic testing)
- Provide hearing consultation and hearing loss awareness information to schoolage students, families and interpreters
- Provide technical assistance to newcomer students by performing hearing aid troubleshooting and basic hearing aid repairs
- Calibration of screening equipment
- Support the use of sound field systems for schools including delivery, setup and maintenance, maintaining inventory for schools
Qualifications:
- Complete high school education
- Manitoba Industrial Audiometric Technical Certificate is required or enrolled in a related program and working towards certification may be considered
- Minimum oneyear experience directly related in the field or a combination of education and experience may be considered
- Must have a valid Class 5F Manitoba driver's licence and use of a vehicle
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to adapt testing process to accommodate the needs of students being served
- Ability to work in a professional and collaborative manner across multiple locations with all WSD staff
- Experience working in a culturally diverse environment
- Ability to prioritize a large workload and work independently
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment and work effectively under pressure to meet deadlines
- Demonstrated problem solving skills
- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
Salary:
$24.11-$28.72 per hour
Schedule:
- 8 hour shift
- Monday to Friday
Experience:
- related: 1 year (preferred)
Licence/Certification:
- Manitoba Industrial Audiometric Technical Certificate (preferred)
- Manitoba Driver's Licence Class 5F (required)
