The Data & Analytics team is a global team that enables Sun Life to be a data-driven organization by making relevant, timely and trusted data easily and securely available.

The D&A Engineering & Operations team is looking for a Business Systems Consultant who can combine expert analysis skills, a strong technical aptitude, a strategic mindset, diplomatic facilitation and leadership skills to elicit and build requirements that enable exceptional solutions.

We operate in a world where time-to-market and evolving business priorities drive our plans so the person who fills this role will need to be equally effective in adapting to change as they are following a process.

What will you do?

Identify and assist in the reengineering, improvement or replacement of existing business processes and associated technology
Elicit, document, examine and manage business requirements on projects by following the current company development methodology. This involves managing business requirements sessions, conducting interviews and accessing existing documentation
Coordinate and facilitate business requirements gathering sessions, gap analysis, risk assessment and business requirements validation
Translate the business requirements into functional requirements.
Engage IT resources such as architects, designers, developers, and the testing team at the appropriate times

What you need to succeed?

University degree in Business or technology

years of experience as a business systems analyst involved in all phases of a project life cycle with proven track record of success on large multi-year projects.

Proven capability with agile, lean or process improvement methodology
Strong knowledge and experience using business analysis principles and industry best practices (eg. business process modeling, conceptual data modeling) and tools, highly developed analysis, research, organization and problem solving skills
Ability to collaborate in a global multisite environment and working in a matrix environment, onshore/offshore IT model

Preferred skills

Strong communication skills and able to understand and accurately interpret the meaning, purpose and importance of verbal and nonverbal messages.
Technical awareness needs to be aware of the technologies that the company utilizes and the ones that are coming. Awareness in the sense one can participate in conversations and be able to understand why a technology is used and how it can benefit the clients and Sun Life, directly or indirectly
Strong leadership skills with the ability to bring opinions, comments and thoughts forward. Able to drive discussions and manage business meetings to meet objectives
Ability to think strategically and understand the big picture of a situation or issue and offer alternative viable strategies
