Estimator/project Manager - Mississauga, Canada - Wilcox Door Service Inc.
Description
The Estimating/Project Manager role will be responsible for calculating the total cost of a project including labour, trade requirements, equipment and material costs.
This includes identifying and researching suppliers/sub-contractors, preparing and evaluating requests for quotations from suppliers/sub-contractors, checking estimates for accuracy, presenting the prepared estimate, and working with the team on budgeting and cost control.
Responsibilities
- Maintain an excellent rapport with all clients, subcontractors and suppliers
- Read and interpret Architectural drawings, plans, and specifications
- Request shop drawings from vendors and interpret customer notes for compliant submissions
- Produce comprehensive onsite reviews
- Complete field measurements
- Review documents in detail to ensure accurate pricing from subcontractors/suppliers
- Prepare final estimates for clients based on needs and company profitability margins
- Manage multiple simultaneous projects with consistent on time delivery
- Follow up on submitted bids
- Negotiate and administer scope changes in current projects
- Innovate new ideas for improving the estimating process
- Develop metrics for measuring costeffectiveness of materials and techniques
- Maintain files and records for ongoing projects
- Ensure invoicing draws are prepared and met
- Interpret and understand Construction contract documents
- Resolve issues and recommend solutions for successful project outcomes
Education/Qualifications
- Educational background in Architectural Technology, Construction Estimating or related field
- Minimum 2 years experience as an Estimator in a technical role
- Knowledge of key principles involved in bid preparation, including locating and interpreting key documents within Architectural bid packages, field measurement procedures, subtrade procurement, pricing and bid closing procedures.
Skills

- Strong technical writing skills and effective verbal communicator
- Responsible attitude and leadership qualities
- Selfmotivated
- Knowledge of Ontario Building Code an asset
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to multitask in a fastpaced environment
- Ability to work under pressure and adhere to tight deadlines

- Overhead Door +
General Contracting: 2 years (preferred)
