As an HR Associate - Occupational Health & Safety, you will participate in providing direct health and safety services to assigned divisions. This will see you working as part of a team of health and safety and disability management professionals providing a range of expertise, consultation, and the interpretation of legislation, collective agreements, existing OH&S policies, programs and processes.
Responsibilities:
Your primary responsibilities as an Occupational Health & Safety Associate will be varied
Specifically, you will:
- Provide support to the Manager, Senior Consultants and Consultants on a range of projects and daytoday health and safety maters
- Liaise with divisional staff to provide guidance and assistance in all areas of health and safety
- Assist in the timely and effective delivery of Occupational Health and Safety services to ensure that health and safety, divisional and corporate objectives are met
- Facilitate training courses related to Health and Safety
- Work on research projects to deliver safety programming
- Produce and analyze reports on Occupational Health and Safety and Disability Management activity to provide recommendations to client divisions
Key Qualifications:
- Postsecondary degree or diploma in a related discipline (i.e. Health and Safety, etc.), or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Experience in an occupational health and safety function in a public or private sector organization
- Experience with safetyrelated legislation and regulations, including the Occupational Health and Safety Act and its regulations, and other health and safety legislation applicable to the City of Toronto
- Experience in delivering and developing training programs focusing on health and safety
- Experience with preparing and analyzing data reports related to incident/accident analysis
- Ability to develop and maintain productive working relationships with People and Equity staff, managers, employees, elected officials and members of the public
- Ability to conduct research, summarize results, and provide userfriendly information and data reports to support projects and initiatives
- Good communication, negotiation and consultation skills at all levels
- Excellent problemsolving skills
