The Estimator / Project Coordinator will report to the Operations Manager and is responsible for assisting in estimating sewer, watermain, asphalt, CIR (cold-in place recycling), and construction projects and assist the Construction Manager, superintendents and supervisors in daily tasks.

This role includes project coordination and management functions for MTO and construction projects.


As an Estimator/Coordinator, You Will:


  • Accurately and timely interpret project drawings, specifications, supplier and subcontractor quotes, proposals and other documentation
  • Preparation of detailed estimate from first principals using cost history and past experience
  • Use estimating software systems in accordance with estimating policy, procedures and good practice
  • Prepare and distribute RFQ's and solicit quotations and proposals from suppliers and subcontractors
  • Advise changes in subcontractor and supplier information
  • Review, analyze and check for completeness of bid documents
  • Assist with tender closing and delivery of tenders
  • Assist and monitor the project schedule, budget, and compliance with the quality control plan
  • Assist foreman and superintendents in their daily tasks

What You'll Bring:


  • Technical College degree/diploma from a recognized Engineering, Architectural, Construction Management Program, Civil Engineering, Technologist or equivalent
  • Minimum 2+ years related experience
  • Valid Class G License and clean drivers abstract, with reliable transportation
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings and calculate precise quantities and estimates
  • Ability to work in the office and in the field with variable working hours
  • Knowledge of cost control techniques and material pricing
  • Effective written, verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Strong computer skills using MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook
  • Heavy Job, Heavy Bid estimating, and JDE software experience an asset
  • Deadline driven with strong ability to prioritize and multitask in a fast pace environment
  • Solid team player with positive attitude
