Job Description:

This position reports to the Supervisor, Custodial and Grounds Operations under Facilities Management Department.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Inspection and maintenance of college vehicles, as follow:

Greasing the tractor, monitoring diesel fuel levels;
Repairing Kubotas (mirror replacements, filter changes, tire changes, tire repair), driving trucks in for service;
Arrange for repair and maintenance.

HAZMAT duties, as follow:

Battery/sharpie pickups;
Organization of HAZMAT shed;
SDS inventory management.

Tractor duties, as follow:

Crushing the bins as needed, moving temporary barricades seasonally, shopping cart removal, other;
Setting out/delivering barricades.

Other duties, as follow:

Chainsaw work;
Equipment and tool maintenance (chainsaws, rototiller etc.);
Refinishing wood at base of living wall;
Pot hole repairs;
Winterizing the site (snow fence, cedar tie up, mark water valves, etc.);
Hand watering.

Aiding the horticulturalist in irrigation repairs, pruning, tree inventory, planting, bare-rooting, weeding storm-pond, weeding living rooves, lawn establishment (seeding, fertilizing, putting new soil).

Required Qualifications:

One (1) year certificate in Grounds Maintenance, Horticulture, or Landscape education, or equivalent, plus relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience as determined by the hiring manager;
Three (3) years of experience as professional grounds maintenance or custodial work (or equivalent) and equipment maintenance including, small handheld equipment;
Experience in fleet maintenance, (warranty work, preventative maintenance, lease management, hydraulics and repair) is an asset.

One (1) year experience in:

Repair work, involving fasteners, hand tools and powered equipment;
Computer and excel experience;
Heavy duty cleaning is an asset;
Arrange for repairs and perform basic maintenance on tractor, RTVs, and or other vehicles is an asset.
