Job Summary:

Reporting to the Manager, Geographical Information Systems (GIS) & Database, the GIS Technician will be responsible for day-to-day operation of the GIS system.

They will be required to support the day-to-day work of the Fibre Optic Design team.

What you will be doing:

Provide daily support to the Circuit Designers for Reports and Circuit Traces.
Manual repairs to Cables, FOSCs etc. in Patch Manager as directed.
ETL of Third Party and Open Source Data.
SWAT Warning Management and assignments.
MS Excel Reporting and data presentation. Vlookups, Pivots, graphs and charts.
Manual GIS Processes for oneoff requests.
Other Duties as assigned.

Skills and Qualification:

Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in computer science, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
1 year of experience in Telecom and 1 year of GIS (FME/ESRI/QGIS) experience, or a reasonable combination of both.
Proficiency with Fibre Management Systems in a Utility Environment, including but not limited to Patch Manager, IQGeo, Bentley Fibre, Small World, ARC FM, and Enghouse.
Experience with MS Excel Macros or Open Office Macros.
Experience working with GIS systems.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Teamoriented approach, fostering collaboration and effective communication within a group.
Strong attention to detail and a commitment to rigor in all tasks.
Resourceful problemsolving skills.
Professionalism in all interactions and a commitment to maintaining high ethical standards.
Exceptional organization skills.
French proficiency is considered an asset.
