Position Overview:


As our in-house Paralegal, you will be responsible for spearheading behind-the-scenes work that goes into our tenancy portfolio including, but not limited to, LTB notices and hearings, and proper tenancy proceedings relative to their standing within our portfolio.

In this role, you will support the owners and property management staff in day-to-day activities and needs, following all administrative and operating procedures.

Primarily, you will assist in tenancy needs, proceedings, depositions and other legal and real estate development needs.

This is a support role to the CEO, however it requires someone who naturally takes the lead on projects and is a strong independent worker.

Here are some of the key responsibilities and requirements of this role:

  • Knowledge in Real Estate in terms of LTB and proceedings
  • Drafting legal documents including deposition notices, certifications, contracts, briefs, complaints, subpoenas, motions, and pleadings
  • Conducting legal research into case law, and interviewing clients and witnesses
  • Creating summaries of depositions and testimonies
  • Providing additional support to Attorneys, court hearings, depositions etc.
  • Organizing and maintaining legal files
  • Filing documents with any applicable court systems
  • Determining sound resolutions between PM and tenants

Interpersonal:

  • Connect with coworkers, service providers, municipal officials, lenders, and the real estate community.
  • Followup with employees and external contacts regarding status of outstanding matters.
  • Provide Owners and PM team with daily updates on outstanding matters and prompt any necessary action
  • Produce memos, documents, reports, presentations, and briefs.
  • Perform any additional duties as requested

Leasing and Legal:

  • Prepare and maintain the schedule and process for lease renewals
  • Lead and push all parties involved to complete necessary steps in order to meet deadlines
  • Anticipate legal needs of the company where necessary
  • Review, draft, and provide comments on lease documentation and proceedings
  • Prepare and review agreements of purchase and sale.
  • Think critically and assess third party requests.
  • Assist in legal matters as required
  • Liaise with external counsel when required
  • Coordinate and participate in due diligence of potential acquisitions, as required.

Required Experience:

  • At least 12 years of experience as a Paralegal in Real Estate
  • Licensed Paralegal
  • Experience in dealing with various leasing and tenant situations

  • Ability to anticipate and plan ahead to ensure timelines and needs are met.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Ability to use discretion and maintain confidentiality.
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Outlook.
  • Proficiency in English

Pay:
$50,000.00-$60,000.00 per year
