Your Role and Responsibilities


A Data Scientist on the Client Engineering team covers all stages of the data model lifecycle from Data Engineering to Model Building, Machine Learning Operations and AI Governance to create a trusted end-to-end AI solution.

A 'Day-in-the Life' of a Data Scientist that is focused on the Hybrid Data & AI management may include, but not be limited to:


  • Key contributor to a presales Client Engineering team, partnering with clients to understand business problems and propose solutions using IBM technologies.
  • Involvement in the cocreation of rapid proofs of concept and Minimal Viable Solutions that demonstrate business value.
  • Translates business problems into leadingedge analytics solutions using consulting skills, industry expertise, and technical knowledge.
  • Delivers meaningful insights and predicts emerging trends to inform business solutions that optimize client value.

  • Experience in data solutions such as data architecture, governance, and observability; and building data pipelines; and performing data acquisition and cleansing that are focused on addressing realworld business challenges.

  • Strong analytic, problem solving, and troubleshooting skills combined with an agile process.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

  • B.S./M.S. in Computer Science, Data Science, Math, Statistics, Engineering or equivalent technical degree/experience.
  • At least 1 year experience in:data solutions such as data architecture, governance, and observability; and building data pipelines; and performing data acquisition and cleansing.
  • At least 1 year experience with Database System (SQL and NoSQL) and Big Data/Distributed systems with technologies such as Spark, Hive, HDFS and Data API Design.
  • At least 1 year of experience with Extract-TransformLoad (ETL) tools
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven team collaboration and leadership.
  • Readiness to travel up to 30% annually.
  • Must be able to travel to the U.S

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise

  • At least 2 years of experience in:data solutions such as data architecture, governance, and observability; and building data pipelines; and performing data acquisition and cleansing.
  • Experience with data science libraries and frameworks, such as, Jupyter Notebooks, scikitlearn, Pandas, Spark.
  • Experience with using any of the following data technologies Amazon SageMaker, Databricks, Azure Machine Learning, Dataiku, Microsoft Power BI, Collibra is an asset
  • Specialization in areas such as NLP/NLU, prescriptive analytics and optimization, MLOps, AI solutions, machine vision and/or data visualization
