The Payroll Technician works with colleagues to code and prepare payroll for unionized employees under federal jurisdiction. In support of managers, employees and the human resources team, he/she will ensure proper payroll management.


Responsibilities:


  • Ensure payroll processing in compliance with applicable laws, labour standards and collective agreements
  • Codify data entries
  • Produce the payroll validation file
  • Produce and verify Records of Employment and respond to requests from the Employment Insurance office
  • Produce government remittances
  • Produce various reports for managers and operations
  • Brief employees and managers on payroll issues
  • Assist in the preparation of T4s and Relevé 1s
  • Support Area Manager with various requests
  • Perform all other related tasks

Qualifications

  • DEC in accounting, administration or other related discipline;
  • Two to five years of relevant experience;
  • Bilingualism essential, French and English, both spoken and written;
  • Excellent knowledge of basic Microsoft Office software;
  • Experience in a unionized environment (an asset);
  • Knowledge of SAP (an asset);
  • Rigorous, efficient and highly organized;
  • Ability to perform well on different files simultaneously in a highvolume environment;
  • Customer focus, autonomy and excellent team spirit
