The Operations Supervisor / Lead hand is responsible to ensure the smooth and efficient functioning of a distribution or manufacturing establishment.
This includes overseeing daily operations, optimizing resource utilization, meeting production targets, implementing process improvements, maintaining quality standards, ensuring employee training and safety, and managing inventory and supplies.
Ultimately, the Operations Supervisor / Lead hand plays a critical role in driving operational excellence, maximizing productivity, and contributing to the overall success and profitability of the organizationDuties and Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the daily operations of a distribution and/or manufacturing facility, ensuring efficient utilization of resources to meet production targets.
- Optimize material, labor, and equipment usage for order picking, receiving, shipping, and inventory management.
- Identify and implement improvements to machinery, equipment, processes, and production systems.
- Manage quality control processes and production reporting in line with Quality System policies.
- Supervise, and train employees on new equipment and production techniques, including order fulfillment, material handling, and quality inspections.
- Organize warehouse and yard layouts for efficient operations.
- Propose and implement safety enhancements to promote a secure work environment.
- Monitor and replenish supplies as necessary to support operational needs.
- Generate weekly reports on safety and maintenance activities.
- Oversee general yard maintenance, including landscaping and cleanliness initiatives.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications (education and experience):
- Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in operations, preferably in a distribution or manufacturing environment.
- Proven track record of successfully managing daily operations, optimizing resources, meeting production targets, and implementing process improvements.
- Experience in inventory control and quality assurance processes.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and develop teams, including training and performance management.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Strong analytical and problemsolving skills to identify operational inefficiencies and implement effective solutions.
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Proficiency in using operations management software and tools for inventory management, production scheduling, and reporting.
- Solid understanding of quality control principles and processes, including experience with quality system procedures.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with crossfunctional teams, vendors, sales, and senior management.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices to ensure a safe work environment for employees.
- Leadership qualities, including the ability to motivate and inspire teams to achieve operational excellence and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Forklift/Lift Truck Certification
- Overhead Crane Training (required by the facility)
- Facility equipment and/or machine training
- Facility orientation
Leadership Responsibilities:

- set goals for direct reports, provide leadership and guidance to operations staff
Pay:
$28.00-$41.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
