Squamish Nation consists of 23 villages and is comprised of descendants of the Coast Salish Aboriginal people who live in the present-day Greater Vancouver area, Gibson's Landing, and Squamish River watershed.

The Squamish Nation has occupied and governed the territory since beyond recorded history. The Squamish Nation's culture is rich and resilient. We continue to practice our customs and traditions, which are strongly interconnected with our traditional territory. As an organization, we provide support to the greater Squamish Nation Community through service. With 12 departments with individual areas of expertise, we ensure Community Members have access to necessary programs and services.


About The Opportunity:


Working as an integral part of the Communications Department, this position reports to the Manager of Communications and Engagement, this role is responsible for supporting the development and implementation of integrated internal and external communications strategies and initiatives for the Squamish Nation.

Working collaboratively with the communications team, as well as with departments across the Nation and external stakeholders, this position develops high-quality, compelling, and accessible content for diverse audiences - including the Nation's Members, external stakeholder audiences, and the public - and communications channels.

It is also responsible for contributing to the Nation's social media presence and supporting media relations and issues management activities as needed.

This position requires the incumbent to have a strong interest in writing, and multi-media storytelling, and an excellent ability to articulate information.

The incumbent is highly analytical and adaptable, with the demonstrated ability to independently and skillfully manage multiple priorities and meet tight timelines in an ever-changing environment.

The incumbent operates with a high level of tact, confidentiality, diplomacy, and integrity, and contributes to a positive and supportive team environment by working efficiently and professionally at all times.

Salary:
$ 73,628 - $ 82,419 annually, plus a comprehensive benefits program.
