PEOPLE & CULTURE ADVISOR (1.0 FTE)
YW Calgary works to provide preventative and restorative services to women and their families to help them

The People and Culture Advisor is part of the People Services team and reports to the Director, People & Culture.

This position provides expertise to organizational leaders and support to the employees in all areas of Human
Resources. The People & Culture Advisor will work closely with the People Services team and other leaders in the
areas of workforce planning, recruitment and selection, leadership and talent development, employee relations,
compensation, employee health, safety and wellness, equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI), performance
management and succession planning. The People & Culture Advisor will have a strong understanding of current
organizational and talent opportunities and challenges and make recommendations on strategic direction to
enhance YW's attraction, development, engagement and retention of talent.


This position is full-time, 37.5 hours per week and is eligible for a hybrid work arrangement.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Partner to understand the needs of the organization in relation to goals, strategies, and engagement. Use
a deep understanding of YW's Practice Framework principles and priorities to collaboratively identify,
develop and deliver impactful People Services initiatives.

  • Play a key partnership role in the development and integration of strategic talent initiatives and lead
special projects.

  • Build strong relationships with leaders and employees, serving as key point of contact with the
organization and People Services team in the provision of HR generalist accountabilities.

  • Partner with leaders to provide strategic advice, consulting, and coaching as it relates to understanding
the organizational direction, building agile, engaged, and high performing teams, and improving the
employee experience in alignment with being a workplace of choice.

  • Coach leaders in understanding the people implications of their strategies, initiatives, and decisions.
  • Build trusting relationships and engage with employees to support all aspects of the employee experience
and life cycle.

  • Coach, consult and proactively support leaders and employees on the interpretation, administration and
service delivery of People Services programs, policies, and processes.

  • Collaborate in the development, evaluation and continuous evolution of policies, programs, and processes
to align with YW Practice Framework integration, EDI principles, National Standard for Psychological
Health & Safety and legal compliance; help ensure best practice adoption to enhance the employee
experience.

  • Partner with People Services team members and leaders in the ongoing enhancement, implementation
and maintenance of HR program(s), i.e., talent acquisition, compensation, employee engagement and
retention, employee relations, performance management, leadership and talent development,
compensation, career development, workforce planning, succession management and health, safety and
wellness.

  • Partner on employee engagement initiatives including engagement survey processes, recognition
activities and events, analytics and reporting, communications.

  • Conduct exit interviews and assist with all aspects of the offboarding processes.
  • Support HRIS system implementation activities.
  • Conduct investigations, prepare documentation/reporting to make recommendations to resolve
employee relations matters to ensure leaders and employees are well-supported and organizational risks
are mitigated.

  • Coach leaders and employees on appropriate conflict resolution, performance management and
disciplinary actions.

  • Collaborate in the continuous development, enhancement and integration of the equity, diversity and
inclusion strategy, programs, and processes as well as integration into existing People Services offerings.

  • Conduct research and provide recommendations on external trends, metrics analysis and best practices.
  • Identify opportunities, issues, and trends within teams through analyzing and interpreting related metrics.
Use evidence-based reporting and information to make recommendations and coach leaders in their
leadership and people practices. Additionally, use information to evaluate People Services program
effectiveness and identify opportunities for innovation and continuous improvem
